OWNER/PHOTOGRAPHER
My love for taking photographs started at a very young age. I had one of those crappy pink Barbie cameras- you know, the Glitter Star Point & Shoot Outdoor 110 Camera? The lens had a heart around it and there was a big sparkly Barbie sticker on the top. It even came with a mini camera for your Barbie doll (which I never used because I thought Barbie dolls were stupid). Anyways, as a kid, I was just happy to have a working camera. I photographed everything.
I continued to own crappy plastic cameras and drugstore throwaway film cameras until about 5th grade. I was given my first digital camera, a little blue Sony, and I was ecstatic. The camera went everywhere with me. I brought it to school, I brought it on vacation, I even brought it on trips to the grocery store so I could take pictures out the car window. |
In 8th grade, my camera was upgraded to a cherry red Nikon CoolPix. After each year, my photography skills slightly improved. My sophomore year of high school, I joined a journalism class and became a photographer and writer for the school’s yearbook. My school had about five DSLR cameras that were available for yearbook students to “check out” so we could gather photographs of school events. I checked one of those babies out on a weekly basis. I photograph school events, shows, and sports events, but I also used the camera to practice my photography skills outside of the realm of yearbook. This was also the year I met and began dating a sweet, handsome guy named Zach Phillips.
The following year after that class, I received my first DSLR camera as a Christmas present from my parents. I practiced and practiced and practiced. I photographed friends, pets, random objects, and every detail of every vacation we went on. When Zach graduated from high school, I took his senior photos.
Together, we attended Texas A&M University in College Station where I took numerous photography courses. Because of my school schedule, it was difficult for me to have a reasonable part-time job. I noticed that a large amount of students graduated each semester, but the city lacked affordable photographers for these newly indebted college grads. Thus, Odds & Ends Photography was born and I began my journey as a professional photographer.

I met my husband when we were in high school and we have been together for almost six years. In 2013, we both enrolled at Texas A&M University at College Station. In January of 2016, he proposed on a dog sled ride in the snow in Winter Park, Colorado. We both graduated from Texas A&M with Bachelors of Science on December 2016, and were married on April 8th, 2017.
